New Feature!

I have finally added a mapping feature to the right of the page to log my finds and progress. If you take the time to check it out you will see the location of the 7 cents added to the total today. It is my first attempt to incorporate a mapping feature so in all likelyhood it will need to be refined over time.

For the love of FED

I have a question. This week the Federal Reserve announced that they were basically printing a trillion dollars in order to purchase Treasuries and Mortgage Backed Securities. Now does this mean it will be easier for me to find money on the street as there is more of it sloshing around? Or has the the "Grim Reaper" of deflation beaten me to the punch?

I have not had much luck of late, but Mrs. Sidewalker snagged a dime on the way to the gym the other day.

Also, I'd like to give a big shout out to epwait for the tweet. (See comment section in the post below)

Dime a day

Since my last post, I have found dimes all over the place. Is this inflationary because it is not worth bending over to pick up a dime or am I just lucky! I have amassed 57 cents, five of them being dimes.

Little guy falls foul of big corporation

Well it's been a while, I continued to collect and the count to a million continued. However my enthusiasm was doused last year when my online savings account got closed down because I made too many deposits, can you believe that? It's true, one day I was checking my balance online and I noticed my account had disappeared, so I called up to find out what had happened. I was told that I had made too many transactions so my account had been closed, all in the name of national security! Apparently they suspected my $5 or so of funding nefarious activity. So with my compounding machine turned off I stopped harvesting the street cash. It has taken me almost a year to come to terms with the closing of my account, but now I'm refreshed and re-focused and ready to chase the dream once more...

Moral dilemma

Well I found the mother lode the other day, $37 in one hit right there on the sidewalk. However my conscience would not allow me to take it. It was in a wallet outside a bodega, I felt it did not qualify as a find, as the dropper would most definitely have picked it up if they had been aware that it had fallen. This money was not "abandoned" it was genuinely lost. I looked in the wallet for I.D. but there was none, so my only course of action was to leave it with the proprietor of the bodega with my name an address and hope the owner stopped by to claim it.

In the plus column since the last post Mrs. Sidewalker found two dimes under a bench by the river (40° 45' 10.44"N, 74° 01' 23.93"W) I found a dime also, walking home from work today(40° 45' 54.33"N, 74° 01' 33.58"W) .

Meanwhile back at Cafe Cash I have found 3 pennies over the course of the last week or so. It is so easy finding money at this location it is like shooting fish in a barrel! (40° 43' 08.75"N, 74° 02' 05.71"W)
